The only thing better would be for the guitar to be a sunburst
Nah . . . save that for the toilet

Truthfully, that does remind me that my brother (not THAT brother) and I started playing on a $25 sears & roebuck guitar that our father gave us for Christmas.

Careful Dave Serge could take that statement and creatively imagine what foods one might consume to achomplish this.......
Well they do say you get good acoustics in there

The obvious answer is...chewing tobacco...

....and it would be a "reverse burst".

Yes it was, Hesh. And it was hard as heck to play, bad action. But my middle brother and I both learned to play on that thing. It was probably around 1962-63.

Ron and Hesh, my first was the equivalent Montgomery Wards Airline model with a metal tailpiece and moveable bridge (can we say great for intonation with kids who don't know any better). It was so bad I actually strung it up for years with nylon strings until I could get a better guitar.

Hesh, Alverez has been around a long time and were played and endorsed by Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir. I still have a cheap model and a Yairi (newer model direct coupled bridge) stashed around the house.

Until I built my first, Alvarez has been the only guitar I've played for the past 35 years. It's a really nice Yairi made of BRW.
